Where can adult complete beginners learn to dance in Paris?

At Rock 4 You, a dance school founded in 2017 with studios in the 14th and 15th arrondissements, all our programmes start from level zero. You can choose between weekly classes (from mid-September to late June), weekend workshops for intensive learning, and private lessons. You can try the classes during the first 5 weeks of the season before committing.

Which dance should you learn first if you've never danced?

A simple partner dance that you can dance to today's music: French 4 Beats Rock, the French equivalent of Modern Jive and Country Swing (with a few minor differences). There's no complicated basic step, you link moves together from the very first classes, and you can dance it anywhere: at parties, weddings and nightclubs, to pop, electro, disco or rock.

How long does it take to learn to dance?

On average, after 5 or 6 classes you can already link several moves through a whole song. You'll still need to think a little between moves, but you'll already enjoy yourself at parties. One season of weekly classes gives you a real repertoire for social dancing.

Can you learn to dance at 30, 40 or 50?

Yes, absolutely. Our classes welcome students aged 14 to 75, and the average age is around 30. Wanting to dance matters far more than age or flexibility.

Can you take dance classes alone, without a partner?

Yes. The vast majority of our students come on their own. We balance the groups between leads and follows, and everyone changes partner several times during class: nobody is left on the sidelines.

What activity can couples do together in Paris?

Learn to dance together: a weekly date, real complicity and visible progress from one class to the next. You can start with a weekend beginner workshop, join the weekly classes on weekday evenings, then put it into practice at our Rock parties in Paris.

Which partner dance should you choose?

It depends on the music you like. French 4 Beats Rock is the most accessible and can be danced to almost any style. Salsa and bachata are danced to Latin music, tango is often considered more demanding at first, and 6 Beats Rock keeps a 1950s feel. To dance quickly and anywhere, French 4 Beats Rock remains the simplest choice.

How do you prepare your wedding first dance?

With a custom wedding choreography : one of our teachers builds your dance around your music, your level and your wishes, in private lessons. Even starting from scratch: the number of sessions adapts to your level and the wedding date.

Where can you dance Rock in Paris in the evening?

At Rock 4 You parties: every Monday on the Concorde Atlantique barge and on Fridays at our Alésia studio (14th), plus themed parties and a Gala during the year. Dates and tickets are on the page Rock parties in Paris.

Where can you go dancing in Paris on a Monday night?

On the Concorde Atlantique barge, where Rock 4 You hosts its Rock party every Monday. Doors open at 7pm, a beginner class runs from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, then the floor is open to all.

Can you go to a dance party without knowing how to dance?

Yes. Every Rock 4 You party starts with a one-hour beginner class: it won't make you an expert dancer, but you'll leave with a few moves to enjoy the evening.

How can you meet people in Paris?

Partner dancing is one of the easiest ways to meet people: you change partners during class, see each other every week and meet again at parties. Many of our students arrive alone, and the atmosphere of the classes and parties does the rest, as shown by their reviews.

Where can you take dance classes in Paris's 15th arrondissement?

Rock 4 You classes and workshops take place in our two studios in the 15th: Cadix (2 rue de Cadix) and Volontaires (198 rue de Vaugirard). Our Alésia studio (16 rue du Moulin Vert, 14th) hosts the Friday parties. Besides French 4 Beats Rock, Cadix and Volontaires also offer tango, ballet, bachata, jazz, ragga, dancehall, hip-hop, classes for children, teens and seniors, yoga and Pilates.

What's an original team-building activity in Paris?

A dance class with the whole team: no prerequisites, and it gets everyone laughing, moving and cooperating. Rock 4 You organises team-building events around French 4 Beats Rock.

Can you learn to dance at home, online?
